My Creed

I affirm the five solas

Sola Scriptura: It is in scripture alone that rests the final authority on matters of faith, as it is the only reliable special revelation of God given unto men, as validated and substantiated by miracle and prophecy. In that vain, I believe the scriptures are infallible and inerrant in the original autographs of which we have very reliable copies.

Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Sola Christus: It is by grace alone through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8,9) in Christ alone (John 14:6) that any one is saved.  This salvation is not of works, for it is purely by grace (Romans 11:6), a free gift of God that saves us from death and sin (Romans 5:15-17).

Soli Deo Gloria: All glory is due to God alone.  As the Apostle Peter exclaimed “We must obey God rather than men!” (Acts 5:29).  While some are called to be pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth (Ephesians 4:11), these ministerial positions are positions of service not lordship.  As the Apostle John emphatically warned about those “who are trying to deceive you” he stated “you have no need for anyone to teach you” for the Lord’s “anointing teaches you about all things” (1 John 2:26,27).

I believe in one God revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).  I believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Trinity (as ordered in Matthew’s formula as previously cited) and as the Word made flesh (John 1:14) He came to die for our sins, reconciling us to God through His death on the cross (Ephesians 2:13-16).

On less essential matters (relatively), I am a Calvinist in my soteriological understandings, but I am by no means a hyper-calvinist and I firmly believe in freewill under the full consideration of God’s extra-temporal, extra-spatial, and trans-dimensional nature. While not firm in all of my eschatological understandings, I lean towards Orthodox Preterism.

Some other great statements of faith with which I whole-heartedly agree…
